Work-From-Home-Friendly Furniture That Can Transform Your WFH Experience

A South African company, Angel Shack, is designing furniture that’s going to make your remote work experience that much better. Whether you’ve just started working from home due to the pandemic, or you’re a freelancer accustomed to spending much of your time hunched over your computer, it’s important to create a space that gives a semblance of a workstation to optimize your productivity and help you maintain a healthy work-life balance.

From R2,600 to R33,000 (about AED 650 to AED 8,300) Angel Shack (working alongside German designer Stefan Brodbeck) promises to deliver furniture that catches the eye without compromising on utility and comfort.

These are some of the pieces in their catalogue:

The Gamechanger Hive

A desk-booth hybrid, The Hive comes fully equipped with power sockets, reading lamp, multi-adjustable sliding tables, large comfortable seats, and some storage for your stationery. Although it was initially designed for office use, this piece is perfect in a home setting and can be used when you are working solo or side by side with a colleague.

Depending on your budget, you’ll shell out around  AED 4,800 for the basic design or AED 8,300 for a full spec one.

The Laptop Side Table

Designed with the digital nomad in mind, this functional yet minimalistic table will blend into your home easily without occupying too much space. This piece retails for a little over AED 1,000 and will give your work area a modern yet simplistic feel.

The Study Desk

If space isn’t an issue, spring for this full-sized desk that will make your workspace feel like a real office. According to Angel Shack, this desk not only meets ergonomic standards for your health, but also offers comfort and support that ensures you feel less fatigued, think clearly and are more productive. This study desk will set you back AED750.

The Slide

As the name suggests, this piece comes with wheels that allow part of the desk to slide in and out to increase or reduce space. This means you can customize your workspace depending on the nature of work you’re doing or if more than one person is using the desk at a time. It’s compact design ensures that it blends into your home office without cramping it. It goes for AED 2,000.

Why do you need a dedicated workspace?

If your freelance work on Ureed.com involves working from home, having a dedicated workstation improves your productivity, reduces the risk of blurring your work and home life, and reduces distractions. Most importantly, with a home office, you’ll get the right furniture (like these pieces from Angel Shack) that will ensure you maintain good posture as you work so you don’t suffer back problems in the future.
